1. CIRCULAR ECONOMY & SUSTAINABILITY
& CHALLENGE 1
Up-cycling / Recovery of food waste to reduce waste and subsequent reuse
& CHALLENGE 2
Reduction of the carbon footprint and water footprint, as well as the reuse of energy sources, throughout the value chain
2. NEW PACKAGING SOLUTIONS.
& CHALLENGE 3
New eco-sustainable materials applicable to containers and packaging
& CHALLENGE 4
Up-cycling / Reduce or take advantage of production materials generated by the industry (cardboard boxes, straps, packaging plastics)
& CHALLENGE 6
Reuse of packaging that reaches the consumer
& CHALLENGE 7
Promote consumer awareness in the field of sustainability and the circular economy
Food manufactures in their production centers waste food components that could be recovered and reused for a new use.
Distributors (retailers of large surfaces) and operators of the Foodservice channel generate a large amount of food waste that could be reused and given a new use.
Reduce the impact of the carbon footprint or water footprint of the value chain
In the manufacture and production process, a large amount of heat, water, etc. generated are completely wasted. How can we capture this source of energy and reuse it?
Optimize logistics between the different stakeholders in the value chain.
Considering 3 types of packaging;
Primary; which are in direct contact with the consumer (the yogurt container)
Secondaries; the pack of 6 yogurts
Tertiary; the pallet containing 100 packs of 6 yoghurts
Food industry generates a large amount of single-use waste such as packaging plastics, boxes of all kinds, straps... that could be replaced by other products or be re-used
Solutions to reduce the consumption of these materials in packaging processes between manufacturers and distributors
Improve industrial packaging processes to achieve sustainability and circularity of the materials used
Improve packaging with the use of non-polluting inks
Smart Packaging: monitor the condition of packaged food to provide information on its quality, shelf life, etc. Throughout the value chain.
Solutions that promote the reuse of containers (bottles, packs, etc.) for products in Retail, FMCG and Food Service
Solutions that enable intelligent management of packaging and enable them to be properly identified and traced.
Improve the information given to the consumer for the recycling of products and packaging.
Involve consumers in the recycling of packaging in the Retail, FMCG and Foodservice channels.
